Matahari

Demi matahari dan cahayanya di pagi hari.
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour;

Dan bulan apabila ia mengiringi
By the Moon as she follows him;

Dan siang apabila menampakkannya,
By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory;

dan malam apabila menutupinya,
By the Night as it conceals it;

dan langit serta pembinaannya,
By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure;

dan bumi serta penghamparannya,
By the Earth and its (wide) expanse:

dan jiwa serta penyempurnaannya (ciptaannya),
By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it;

maka Allah mengilhamkan kepada jiwa itu (jalan) kefasikan dan ketakwaannya,
And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;-

sesungguhnya beruntunglah orang yang mensucikan jiwa itu,
Truly he succeeds that purifies it,

dan sesungguhnya merugilah orang yang mengotorinya.
And he fails that corrupts it!
